For nonprofit partners

FAQs for Nonprofits

Plain answers for organizations that want to list services people need, or volunteer roles people can fill, through Walker County’s shared front door.

Most partners only need three steps: create an account, confirm your email, then submit a listing. Staff review every submission before it goes public.

Add or update a resource Create an account

Who is this for?

Nonprofits, churches, schools, civic groups, and other community organizations serving Walker County neighbors. If you offer help people can request, or need volunteers ready to show up, this FAQ is for you.

What is Get Help vs Give Help?

Get Help is the directory of services: food, housing, health, crisis support, and similar resources for neighbors who need assistance.

Give Help is where you list volunteer opportunities so people looking to serve can find your organization.

When you submit, you choose which directory the listing belongs in. You can submit both kinds over time.

Do I need an account?

Yes. An account is required to submit listings and to use the contact form.

Register with your work email, then open the confirmation link we send (it is valid for 24 hours). After that you can sign in anytime.

How do I add a new listing?
  1. Sign in.
  2. Go to Add or update a resource (also linked from For Nonprofits and your account menu).
  3. Choose New resource.
  4. Pick Get Help or Give Help.
  5. Add your organization name, category, description, and contact details.
  6. Submit for review.

Your listing does not appear publicly until staff approve it.

How do I fix or update something that is already listed?

Use the same form and choose Update / correction. Tell us what changed in the description (hours, phone, eligibility, website, address, and so on).

Updates also go through review so published pages stay accurate for the public. You can track status under My listings.

When will my listing go live?

After someone on The Volunteer Collaboration team reviews and approves it. Pending submissions stay in a private review queue and are not visible on Get Help or Give Help.

Check My listings for status (pending, approved, or other notes after review).

What should I include so the listing is useful?
  • Clear organization name people will recognize
  • What you offer (or what volunteers will do), in plain language
  • Who it is for, and any eligibility or cost notes
  • How to reach you: phone, email, website, and address if people visit in person
  • The best category match from the list

Short and specific beats long and vague. Neighbors should know what to do next.

Can coworkers manage listings with me?

Yes. Add your organization name on your profile, then open Team to invite coworkers by email.

Invited people create or sign into their own account, accept the invite, and can help keep listings current.

Where do I see what I have submitted?

Sign in and open your account menu, then My listings. You will see submissions you sent for review, plus published Get Help or Give Help listings that match your organization when they are live.

Is there a cost to list?

There is no fee to create an account or submit directory listings through this site. Optional support for the collaboration is available via Donate.

Can we share events too?

Community events appear on the nonprofit calendar. For help getting an event listed, use the contact form after you sign in.

Who do I contact if something is wrong?

Sign in and send a message through the contact form. Include your organization name and the listing you need help with.

For emergencies affecting the public (danger or medical crisis), call 911. For mental health crisis support in the U.S., dial or text 988.
